I’m having trouble accessing publications from Sage or Taylor & Francis while on-campus.
Some users are currently experiencing issues accessing the Sage and Taylor & Francis databases while on-campus. We are actively working with the publishers to resolve this issue. In the meantime, students and staff members of Leiden University can use the workaround below to access these resources while on-campus.
Workaround
A possible solution is to use a VPN. The easiest way to do this is by installing the free Opera browser and enabling its built-in VPN. Staff members can alternatively use the eduVPN application by adjusting the settings.
Opera Browser
- Install Opera.
- Click on the O-shaped icon to open the settings menu.
- Scroll down to the VPN section.
- Tick the boxes next to "Enable VPN" and "Connect to VPN when starting browser."
- Use Opera to navigate to the article/eBook in our catalogue and open it.
eduVPN (for staff members)
- Open the Company Portal (Software Center) and install eduVPN Client.
- Launch eduVPN.
- Click on the + icon in the top left corner.
- Search for "Leiden" and select the option under "Veilig Internet / Secure Internet".
- This option will now be available in eduVPN. When using it, navigate to the article/eBook in our catalogue, and you should be able to access it.
This workaround will hopefully allow you to continue your research while we work on resolving the access issue.
